Avove announces Mind as its first company charity
This charity was voted for by colleagues because of the crucial work it does in raising awareness to remove the stigma around mental health as well as campaigning to improve services and promote a better understanding of mental wellbeing. As part of the charity vote, Avove thanked its staff by donating £5 per vote and kick-started its 2023 fundraising with a donation of more than £700.
Dealing with mental health and wellbeing in the workplace is a priority for Avove and it has recently signed The Mental Health at Work Commitment to cement its pledge to make a difference in the workplace and to support the mental health of its colleagues. Mind helps one in four people in England and Wales who experience a mental health problem every year. The money raised will fund the charity’s vital work including the Mind Infoline and advice services, as well as the campaigning Mind does across the UK.

Utilities infrastructure and engineering services company, Avove, announces a two-year partnership with national mental health charity Mind. The charity provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing mental health problems.

The partnership follows Avove joining forces with HB Tunnelling Ltd and G&V Gallagher Ltd. to promote the “Light at the End of the Tunnel” project which was launched in 2022 at their Gilson Road site working on the High Speed Two (HS2) project in the West Midlands. As part of the Gilson long sewer diversion project, three Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) are raising funds for Mind for every metre of tunnel installed. The team are working on connecting 700m metres of tunnels and to date has raised more than £16,000 for Mind.
Avove colleagues have set themselves an ambitious target to help the charity’s campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health, and will see local fundraising activities take place at Avove’s offices and sites across the UK to support the charity’s work.
