Avove signs up to the Armed Forces Covenant
Avove has pledged its support to current and former members of the Armed Forces, reservists and their families by signing the official Armed Forces Covenant.
As a responsible and equal opportunities employer; the signing marks the company’s recognition of the value that serving and reservist personnel, veterans and military families contribute to its business, the utilities sector and the UK; and pledges to support their employment to help make the transition out of military life easier.
Executive Chair at Avove, Mark Perkins, signed the document on behalf of the company in a special ceremony at our Birmingham-based office. Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Brettel co-signed the Covenant on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.
Avove is working closely with the Careers Transition Partnership, an ex-military employment organisation, to maximise opportunities for the military community to use their experience, knowledge and expertise within the utilities business and this sector.
“We are proud to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and are committed, through our pledge, to those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, to ensure that they are treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they served. We recognise the sacrifices they have made and the difficulties they can face when transitioning to civilian life and gaining employment – and we are committed to working closely with the Careers Transition Partnership to maximise employment opportunities.”
“We recognise that people who come from an Armed Forces background have a lot of experience, expertise and transferable skills to bring into the sector. We already have a number of colleagues who work for the company from an Armed Forces background or are serving reservists. Signing the Covenant solidifies our commitment and sends a clear message that Avove is here and ready to help, support and develop ex-service colleagues as they move into the sector.”
Avove, Executive Chair, Mark Perkins
The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment to support those who have served and their families. We’re delighted that Avove has signed the public pledge of support to the Armed Forces community, a pledge that acknowledges and understands that those who serve or have served in the armed forces and their families should be treated with fairness and respect. Avove recognises the valuable contribution that veterans, reservists and cadets can add to their business. On behalf of the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence, I would like to thank Avove for their support and look forward to many more years of cooperative partnership.
Lieutenant Colonel, Samantha Brettel
